INFORMATION FOR FOREIGNERS

To Foreign patients

  • Please bring an interpreter with you as much as possible.
    If you can not bring an interpreter, we will provide translation services(video&telephone).
  • You are required to show us your identification (passport or residency card).
    If you have a Japanese National Health Insurance, please show it to us.
  • Once you need to pay full fee even you have a private insurance. Also, you have to make a claim to your insurance company by yourself.
  • If you need an English receipt, please ask at the Window 5.

To Patients with SOFA
(Status of Forces Agreement)

  • Please bring an interpreter with you.
  • You are required to show us your identification.
  • If you have TRICARE, please bring a copy of your “AUTHORIZATION FOR CARE”.
    If you do not have it, you need to pay full fee.

Medical treatment fees

At University of the Ryukyus Hospital, from January 1st, 2020, foreign nationality and international patients who do not have Japanese health insurance qualification is charged at a rate of 20 yen (excluding tax) per 1 medical remuneration point.
It is based on medical remuneration points of Japanese National Health Insurance System.
If you do not have Japanese health insurance, you are required to show us your residence card or passport to verify your identification.
※We allocate the resources for the improvement of the service to foreign patients.

        

The translation fee for medical documents

At University of the Ryukyus Hospital, from September 21th, 2021, 8,800yen is added as a translation fee to medical documents including medical certifications provided in foreign languages.
For instance, if you need a medical certificate in English, you will be charged 12,650 yen for the cost of medical documents.
As details, a medical certificate fee (3,850 yen) adds a translation fee (8,800 yen). All prices are included in Tax.

How to get a consultation at University of the Ryukyus Hospital

  • You should first go to your local clinic or see a family doctor when you have non-seriousillness or a minor injury.
  • Please ask your doctor to write a refferal letter and schedule your first appointment.
  • Then you go to University of the Ryukyus Hospital with a referral letter and you will not be charged extra fee.
    If you come to the hospital without a referral letter, you will be charged an extra fee of 7,700yen (determined by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in Japan).
